Laurie A. Higgins, MS, RD, LDN, CDCES is the Coordinator of Pediatric Nutrition Education & Research working in the Pediatric, Adolescent and Young Adult Section at Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston, MA. Ms. Higgins is on the planning committee for educational opportunities offered Joslin Diabetes Center. She has been involved with the development of Joslin Diabetes School Nurse Programs for the past 19 years. Her expertise include nutrition and management of diabetes, celiac disease, gastrointestinal diseases and food allergies, with extensive knowledge and training in Insulin pump management and CGM devices and pattern management. Ms. Higgins presently sits on the Board of Directors of the National Celiac Association (NCA), and is Treasurer of the Massachusetts Coordination Board of the American Association of Diabetes Educators.
Ms. Higgins is a Certified Diabetes Educator and has worked with people with diabetes over the past 30 years. She has been a registered dietitian since 1982 and worked at Harvard-affiliated Boston Children’s Hospital for 18 years and at Joslin Diabetes Center for the past 18 years. Ms. Higgins has authored or co-authored more than 25 articles or chapters and numerous educational handouts and has extensive experience in lecturing to medical professionals.
