Qian Li, MD, PhD

  • Vascular Cell Biology
Research Associate
Instructor in Medicine, Harvard Medical School

Dr. Qian Li was born in China. He earned his MD in Clinical Medicine from the School of Medicine at Shanghai Railway University in 1995. Following his graduation, he worked as a resident at Beijing General Railway Hospital until 2000. He then pursued his Ph.D. at Peking University, completing his degree in 2006.

Dr. Li began his first postdoctoral training at the Cardiovascular Research Center of Massachusetts General Hospital, where he worked from 2006 to 2009. In 2009, he joined Dr. George King’s lab at Joslin Diabetes Center and was promoted to Research Associate and Instructor in 2014.

Dr. Li’s research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms of atherosclerosis in diabetic conditions. His work has shed light on the role of PKCs in endothelial cells and macrophages, as well as the role of the insulin receptor in vascular smooth muscle cells in atherosclerosis. His findings have been published in Circulation Research, Nature Communications, and Cardiovascular Research.
